Massage Therapy Modalities

Peer-reviewed medical research has shown that the benefits of massage include pain relief, reduced depression, and temporary reduction of blood pressure, heart rate, and anxiety. Additional studies have shown expedited recovery periods for muscle performance. It’s also commonly known that massage enhances skeletal muscle regrowth and remodeling, pain reduction, activation of the the parasympathetic nervous system, which can stimulate the release of endorphins and serotonin, preventing the formation of scar tissue, increasing the flow of lymph, and improving sleep. These therapeutic objectives are supported through a variety of modalities that we offer at Green & Pebble Med Spa, including those listed below.

Muscle Relief Therapy

This treatment integrates customized concentrated zone massage, steamed towels and China Gel to help lessen pain and discomfort and enhance healing. (Add on to any massage for $40)

Myofascial Release

Myofascial Release is a safe and very effective hands-on technique that involves applying gentle sustained pressure into the Myofascial connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion.

Couples Massage

This special treat takes care of you and your partner in the same room. Perfectly customized for the both of you.

Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is the use of essential oils for curative and rejuvenating effects. Dating back to ancient Egypt, India, and the Far East, this simple therapy has been used for centuries to reduce stress and tension, refresh and invigorate the body, soothe emotions, and clear the mind. (Included with every massage.)

Lymphatic Massage

Lymphatic massage is very light relaxing massage used to promote healthy flow of lymph, the clear fluid that flows throughout our bodies.

Warm Bamboo Massage

Specially crafted to deliver a full body, deep tissue massage effortlessly. They act as an extension of the therapist’s hands. The warmth of the tools helps to melt muscular tension and allow for deeper body work.

Cupping Therapy

The suction and negative pressure provided by cupping can loosen muscles, encourage blood flow, and sedate the nervous system (which makes it an excellent treatment for high blood pressure). Cupping is used to relieve back and neck pains, stiff muscles, anxiety, fatigue, migraines, rheumatism, and even cellulite.

Sports Massage

This special form of massage is typically used before, during, and after athletic events to prepare the athlete for peak performance. I also drains away fatigue, relieves swelling, reduces muscle tension, promotes flexibility and prevents injuries. Depending on the needs of the athlete, a variety of techniques are used including classic Swedish strokes, cross-fiber friction, pressure-point work, and joint mobilization.

Swedish Massage

This style massage includes long gliding strokes, kneading, friction, tapping, and shaking motions. It is effective for most ailments, because massaging the skin, the body’s largest organ, sets up a chain reaction that produces a positive effect on all layers and systems of the body. It affects the nerves, muscles, glands, and circulation, and promotes health and wellbeing. Rated Medium.

Trigger Point Therapy

Specifically designed to alleviate the source of the pain through cycles of isolated pressure and release. This specialty treatment causes releasing of constricted areas in the muscles thus alleviating pain.

Deep Tissue Massage

Designed to relieve severe tension in the muscle and the connective tissue or fascia. This type of massage focuses on the muscles located below the surface of the top muscles.

Prenatal Massage

Pregnancy places strong demands on a woman’s body and is a time for the body to be nurtured and pampered. This massage not only relieves the tensions and aches caused by the extra weight and shift in the center of gravity to the body, but it reduces swelling, soothes the nervous system, acts as a tonic, reduces fatigue, and enhances energy.

Reflexology

Technique performed on the hands and feet and is based on the ancient Oriental theory that meridian lines or pathways carry energy throughout the body. Because each zone or part of the body has a corresponding reflex point on the feet, stimulating that reflex point causes stimulation in the natural energy of the related organ.

Hot Pebble Massage or Himalayan Salt Stone Massage

This technique uses stones that have been heated. These stones are positioned on the body and some are gently moved about with light pressure being exerted on the warm stones.

Lomi Lomi Massage

Lomi Lomi massage is a traditional Hawaiian massage technique that focuses on promoting relaxation and restoring balance in the body. This massage technique involves rhythmic, flowing movements that mimic the motion of ocean waves. Lomi Lomi massages typically use the hands, fingers, forearms, and elbows to apply both deep and gentle pressure to the muscles.
